Dealing with spring break injuries

For many New York college students, spring break is a chance to get away from school obligations for a few days. However, it is also a common time to suffer injuries, which can be difficult if the student is away from home and school. Knowing what to do after suffering common spring break injuries can ease students' minds.

CVSA annual inspections set for June

The vehicles of New York commercial truck drivers will be subject to inspection for three days in early June as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's yearly International Roadcheck inspection blitz. Although cargo securement is part of the Level I inspections that will be conducted, the blitz will also put a particular focus on cargo to emphasize its importance to drivers.

Injured in an accident? This is what you should do first

As most of us have experienced, accidents can happen anywhere at any time. Imagine taking a fall while walking through the parking lot where you work or tripping over construction materials that someone left in the middle of the sidewalk. It is easier than it seems to suffer a serious injury from a fall.

Potential drawbacks of self-driving cars

There are a number of potential benefits associated with cars that are driven by computer software instead of people. Human beings are subject to distraction while driving, and lack of sleep may also negatively affect their ability to drive in a safe manner. Computers, of course, are not subject to these issues, which is why it is expected that an increase in self-driving cars will reduce the number of automobile accidents in New York and around the country.

What to ask before hiring an attorney?

When you have been injured in a car accident, choosing legal counsel may not be at the top of your priority list. And that’s okay; because you should focus on getting better so that you can return to a normal life. However, you should not be surprised if you quickly amass solicitations from personal attorneys. Indeed, they may have altruistic goals of righting wrongs and helping someone recover from their injuries, but the financial incentives available for attorneys to help injured parties cannot be ignored.

Remotely-driven trucks may be coming to New York

As with self-driving cars, there are also increasing numbers of self-driving large trucks under development. However, there's one big obstacle that's keeping more self-driving trucks from transporting goods, and the issue is that it is difficult for autonomous trucks to successfully navigate the small and often cluttered spaces of loading bays.

Reasons for increased fatal accidents in New York

There was a significant increase in the number of traffic-related fatalities in between 2015 and 2016 according to estimates from both the National Safety Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Per the NSC, there was a 6 percent rise in the number of fatal car accidents between 2015 and 2016, and there was a 14 percent increase compared to 2014.
