Slip-and-fall accidents outside can happen all year long

Slip-and-fall accidents that occur outside can happen during any part of the year. While some people might associate outdoor slip-and-fall accidents with the winter months because of the ice and snow, that isn't the only time when these accidents can occur. There are several conditions that can cause a person to slip or trip outside.

One of the conditions that can lead to these accidents is disrepair. Cracks in the sidewalk or parking lot can be dangerous. Ridges in the surface or an uneven surface can also cause accidents to occur. Inadequate lighting can also lead to accidents on sidewalks and other outdoor surfaces.

When you are injured in an outdoor slip-and-fall or trip-and-fall accident, one of the first things you have to do is to seek medical care for the injuries you suffered. Once you have found out the extent of your injuries and have started on the prescribed treatment program, you might decide that you want to seek compensation.

The decision to seek compensation means that you need to find out who to seek compensation from. This might be the property owner of the spot on which you had the accident. It might also be the occupant of that location. Determining who should be held liable might be challenging since some sidewalks are owned and maintained by a municipality.

On top of determining who should be held liable, determining if the party or person had knowledge of the hazard is important. This one fact can often be a key point in the claim you make regarding the accident.
