Chain reaction crash kills cyclist

A cyclist in New York has tragically been killed in an accident. It appears to have been a chain reaction crash that left the unprotected cyclist pinned between a number of vehicles.

According to police reports, a 2012 Honda Accord was going down Avenue P, which is located in Midwood, and it was heading west. This was right around 10 in the evening. Avenue P intersects with East 12th Street, and there is a stoplight at the intersection.

That light was allegedly red, but the Accord went through it anyway. Another vehicle, an 2015 Infiniti Q50, was driving out into the intersection. The Accord slammed into the door of the Q50, on the driver's side. This sent both cars crashing off of the road and into a number of parked cars.

In the process of crashing into the parked vehicles, the two cars hit the cyclist, which is when he was fatally pinned.

Emergency crews did what they could, coming to the scene of the crash and taking the man to Community Hospital. However, the medical staff at the hospital declared that he had passed away from his injuries.

The two drivers were taken to Lutheran Hospital and Kings County Hospital. The injuries to the Infiniti driver appear to be minor, and that driver was released from Kings County. The other driver had chest pain, and there are pending charges that have been filed against him for causing the wreck.

Those who have lost loved ones in car accidents must know what rights they have to compensation for things like medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages, and more.
