Construction accident types vary greatly

Construction workers are a vital part of our society. Without these workers, we wouldn't have buildings, roadways or other structures that we depend on as part of our daily routine. These vital workers put themselves in danger with each shift because of the dangers that are associated with construction work.

One of the hazards at construction sites that is almost always present is the use of heavy machinery. Heavy machines pose several problems. Forklifts, cranes and other machines can tip over and cause injuries. They can malfunction and cause accidents. They can pin workers against things.

Falling objects can lead to accidents in a construction zone. It is possible that a worker on a scaffold or a higher level of a building might drop something that hits another worker. A board might fall from above a worker's head.

Falls are another hazard for construction workers. Construction zones have ladders, scaffolding, high work zones and other items that might require a worker to climb. Any climbing can lead to a worker falling and becoming injured.

Building collapses, trench collapses, fires and explosions are also possible in a construction zone. All of these can lead to serious injuries or even fatalities.

Employers must ensure that construction zones are safe for workers. While there might be some small hazards in the construction zone, large hazards and foreseeable hazards must be properly secured.

In some cases, construction workers might be able to seek compensation for their injuries from third parties. This might occur if equipment malfunctions because of a defect. This shows how exploring all your options for seeking compensation might help you to decide how to handle your case.
