Construction injuries can qualify for workers' compensation

Construction workers are at risk of being injured throughout each shift on the job site. When a worker does suffer an injury, he or she might opt to seek compensation through the workers' compensation program. This program provides coverage that ensures construction workers can get the essential medical care that they need if they are injured.

When you are first injured in a construction accident, you will have to see the company doctor. This requirement can last up to 30 days. Once that time has elapsed, you can choose to see a different doctor. In some cases, you might have to make the request to see another doctor in writing.

If you are injured on the job site, you should make sure that you inform your employer right away. This must be done in accordance with the policies at your company. You should make sure that you file a claim for workers' compensation. This should be offered to you, but you must understand that if your employer isn't obligated to provide you with the benefits that can ensure you can see a doctor or have wage replacement income until the form is completed and submitted.

Once you file your claim for workers' compensation benefits, you will be able to find out what benefits are due to you. These can include disability payments, wage replacement, medical coverage and vocational rehabilitation. If you have any doubts about the benefits or think that they are incorrect, you should have your case reviewed. In some cases, you might have to take additional steps to the compensation that your injury requires.
